SUI Network Collaboration Helps Recover $157M in May’s Crypto Security Breakthrough
Cryptocurrency thefts dropped 39.29% month-over-month to $244.1 million in May 2025, according to blockchain security firm PeckShield. This sharp decline follows increased industry investment in cybersecurity infrastructure and rapid response protocols.
A single $220 million exploit of Cetus Protocol accounted for most of the month’s losses, but collaborative efforts with sui Network successfully froze $157 million (71%) of stolen funds. This partial recovery highlights the growing effectiveness of cross-platform security coordination.
While 20 significant breaches were recorded, the marked improvement from April’s figures suggests stronger defenses against both state-sponsored actors and decentralized platform vulnerabilities. The industry’s proactive freeze mechanisms are proving effective at mitigating damage despite persistent attack vectors.
